Shield Figures

These designs in figure 1 and 2 are shield figures depicting a person defending himself behind a shield. The designs in the shield could represent a family design, or they could give the details of a fight. The track at the side of figure 1 means to strip off in preparation for battle. Figure 3 shows a person holding a shield in his hand at a distance from his body. The Arrow Canyon area was where Paiutes from different bands settled their internal disputes.
